A private, weatherproof container is one of the safest places to keep furniture between homes, during a renovation, or while you travel. Here is how we help you do it properly.

Dust, food residue and even a little moisture cause the most damage over time. Wipe down all surfaces and let upholstery air out fully before it goes into storage.
Table legs, bed frames and shelving units are much safer flat-packed. Keep screws in labelled bags taped to the piece they belong to.
Use breathable furniture covers or old cotton sheets. Sealed plastic traps humidity — the enemy of wood, leather and upholstery.
Sofas, wardrobes and appliances go in first. Stack lighter items and boxes on top. Leave a small central walkway if you plan to visit the unit.
Wrap mirrors, glass shelves and framed art with bubble wrap and label them clearly. Corner protectors keep wooden edges from chipping in transit.
Not if it goes in clean and dry, wrapped in breathable covers rather than plastic sheeting. The risk with wood is trapped moisture and rapid humidity swings, so avoid sealing pieces airtight, keep them off the container floor on pallets or battens, and add moisture absorbers.
